Volkswagen adds new trims and engine to Tiguan

The Match and R-Line Tech specs offer generous levels of equipment, while the new 227bhp petrol engine adds another dimension to the range.

To add further breadth to the Tiguan range, Volkswagen has given it two new trim levels and a new petrol engine.

The Match spec replaces the SE and SE Nav trim levels, while R-Line is being moved out and replaced with the R-Line Tech.

On the Match trim, Volkswagen adds a rear view camera, park assist, keyless entry and 19-inch alloy wheels – with this extra kit adding £1,130 to the price of the SE Nav.

As standard, it also comes with an eight-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation, three-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, parking sensors and a multi-function leather steering wheel.

It can be fitted with two petrol engines – including the new 2.0-litre unit that develops 227bhp – and the 2.0-litre diesel that comes in 148bhp and 187bhp forms.

For the new R-Line Tech trim, Volkswagen adds £1,450-worth of equipment to the former R-Line option but only adds £200 to the list price. The upgrade features area view, park assist, keyless entry and full electric tailgate.
