Prices and specs announced for new Fiat 500 hybrid and Panda hybrid

It is the first time Fiat has offered an electrified powertrain in Europe.

Fiat has announced the prices and specs for its mild-hybrid 500 and Panda models.

The Panda and 500 models are Fiat’s best-selling models, with 400,000 units sold in Europe last year between them.

Fiat says that this new mild-hybrid technology will help improve efficiency, with Fiat claiming a reduction in CO2 emissions by up to 30 per cent – as low as 88g/km for the 500 and 89g/km for the Panda.

The new 1.0-litre engine has a power output of 70bhp whilst retaining a fuel economy figure of 49.9mpg for the Panda and 53.3mpg for the 500 – both cars come as standard with a six-speed manual gearbox.

The new 500 hybrid models start at £12,665 for the entry-level Pop version and rise to £16,795 for the Launch Edition which is equipped with a special Dew Green paint finish, hybrid logos and seats made from Seaqual yarn – an automotive first.

Panda models start at £13,885 for the basic City Cross model and rise to £14,485 for the Trussardi model. The Launch Edition will be available for the Panda as well, priced from £14,385.

The 500 and Panda mild-hybrid models are the first electrified car to come out of the Fiat Chrysler group to be sold in Europe. A fully electric 500 arrives later this year.

The 500 and Panda mild-hybrid models are expected to arrive in UK showrooms in February and March 2020, respectively.
