The commercial vehicle market is filled with multiple options that can provide all the storage and practicality any driver might need.

With electrified powertrains or all-electric models being introduced into the market, the van market is being refreshed and renewed almost every six months.

So here are some models that are on the way in the near future that might pique your interest.

The classic and well-established Transporter model has received an update this year. The mid-life update for the T6 has meant the van has been given a new look, improved technology and a more car-like cabin. Although the base formula is still the same, the T6.1 comes with improved safety features and enhanced infotainment to make it much better to live with overall. It is set to go on sale in the latter part of 2019.

Based on the same platform as the Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner and Vauxhall Combo Cargo, the Proace City will be a new addition to the light commercial vehicle market. Revealed earlier this year, the Proace City is set to go on sale at the start of 2020 and is due to be fitted with high levels of interior and safety equipment.

After receiving an update in 2018, the Transit Custom was refreshed yet again this year with a mild-hybrid powertrain and additional upgrades in-line with the Transit. But 2020 is set to be the year of the plug-in hybrid Transit Custom – a new addition to the Ford Commercial Vehicle line-up. The PHEV option is set to be added to Transit, too, but there’s no confirmation on that yet.

Based on the same platform as the 2008 Renault Kangoo, the NV250 is set to be refreshed when the French model is replaced in the next year. Introduced as a replacement for the NV200, the 250 is at the smaller end of the market and offers those not needing as much space a quality option. Although the current model is rather new, we’re looking forward to the 2020 update alongside Renault’s new Kangoo.

Previewed in April, the new Renault Kangoo is set to be unleashed in 2020. It’s likely that the next generation will be electrified, as was the previous version, and come with a new face and style in-line with the Kangoo ZE Concept. A conventionally-powered option is likely to be introduced as well, but it’s expected the new Kangoo could lead the way for electrified city vans moving forward.
