Here’s what Skoda is doing to make buying a car easier during the coronavirus crisis

The firm is offering a range of incentives and offers to support customers

The ongoing coronavirus crisis has put an increased strain on our finances, with many people out of work or furloughed.

You might be thinking that it’s not really the best time to be considering buying a new car. However, plenty of firms are acknowledging the struggles many of us are having at this difficult time. That’s something Skoda is definitely doing, with the manufacturer announcing a range of support for customers looking to get behind the wheel of a new car.

Here’s what’s available...

The first three payments covered

It’s likely that during the current climate not many people are going to want to commit to large monthly outgoings.

That’s why Skoda has announced that you can get behind the wheel of one of its new cars without having to make a payment for the first three months – meaning that you won’t have to pay for your car until later in the year.

Low fixed-price servicing

When buying a new car, you might not factor the cost of servicing into the deal. However, this can be quite a big expense when it comes to taking your car to the garage for its annual check-up.

However, Skoda is offering affordable fixed-price servicing, which is available across the line-up. On the Fabia supermini, two services will cost you just £99 if you sign up to a plan, while all other Skodas will cost £159 with a Service Plan.

Generous deposit contributions

To make it simpler to get behind the wheel at this time, Skoda is offering large deposit contributions across its full line-up, as well as low interest rates. Here, we’ve broken down the individual discounts available on each model.

Available as either a hatchback or estate, the Fabia is a very affordable compact choice. Currently you can get a chunky £3,000 deposit contribution and 4.3 per cent APR rate.

Skoda’s latest crossover is its most compact SUV model, yet is still impressively spacious and suited to family car duties. A deposit contribution of £2,500 is available to help at this time, along with a 4.4 per cent APR rate.

The Karoq is a handsome, well-equipped and roomy crossover and is one of the best cars in its class. A £2,500 deposit contribution currently applies, along with a 4.4 per cent rate. Note the offer excludes SE Technology versions.

While a new Octavia arrives in showrooms this summer, the outgoing car is still a great option particularly if you want spaciousness as it’s one of the largest offerings in its class. You can choose it as a hatchback or estate, and currently you’ll get a hefty £3,500 deposit contribution and 4.1 per cent APR rate. The SE Technology trim is excluded from the offer.

The only seven-seater in Skoda’s line-up, the Kodiaq is a simply excellent large family SUV. It’s also available with the best offers, with a deposit contribution of £4,250 available, along with a low 3.1 per cent APR rate.

Skoda’s Scala hatchback is a great rival to the Ford Focus and Vauxhall Astra, and offers better value and more space than both of those cars. A £2,750 deposit contribution applies, along with a 4.3 per cent APR rate.

If you want a large executive car, Skoda’s flagship Superb certainly lives up to its name. You’ll currently get a generous £4,000 deposit contribution, along with a 4.1 per cent APR rate. SE Technology models aren’t included in the offer, however.

Superb iV

Skoda’s first plug-in hybrid is a smooth, refined and ultra-efficient version of the flagship Superb. While offers aren’t quite as generous as the regular car, you’ll still get a £2,250 deposit contribution and a 4.1 per cent APR rate.

What else do I need to know?

While more in-depth terms and conditions are available on the Skoda website, the most important thing to note is that you must have ordered your new Skoda by July 1 to take advantage of the offer, and it then must be delivered by October 1. All offers are only available on agreements that last a minimum of 46 months, too.
